Philadelphia Baby Photographer |Little Lady
One of the best things about when a family decides to do a maternity session is that I get to know them a little bit before we meet for me to do my thing as a Philadelphia baby photographer. At the maternity session, we chat, but the best part for me is that I get to listen. I get to hear about occupations, how Mom and Dad met or where they came to Philly from, or what they love about this area. It gives them the opportunity to mention a pose they love or a prop they've seen me use, or we can discuss what they can do with their two year old during the hours at my studio. Basically, we all get a little comfortable. Then, when they bring their sweet baby back, I'm always looking forward to seeing my new friends. (I have that syndrome where everyone becomes my friend. My mom calls people named Larry "Lar" within the first three minutes of meeting them. I love that about her. And, when a hairstylist or mustache waxer calls me Jame right off the bat, she has me. I love familiarity, not formality.)Phew, that was a long intro to say that I had a maternity session with this darling family who moved here a year or so ago from Memphis. No accents, though. They didn't always live there. But apparently people from the south don't always have the accent I think they will. Oh, guys. Mamas and their babies get me right *here*. Don't you love the look on her face? Can't you feel that new mama joy? <3 LOVE it.
White on white is a favorite pose of mine - and I love this profile and this way of wrapping that shows all the fingers and the toes.

Snug as a bug in a rug. Look how long those baby fingers are. I love noticing all the little parts. Someday she will be a big lady or even a second grader, or maybe even just a one year old and it's so cool to look at the parts that were already there from when they were a wee little one and how they've changed but even cooler, how they've stayed the same.
Cheese basket. One of my favorite props. I'm so lucky to have a sister-in-law who is an amazing antiquer with a fast iPhone to send me snaps of all the props she thinks I'll love. She's usually right! She was with this one.
And this one too. An antique baby scale. It's even accurate, we learned.
