Look Who's One | Delaware County Baby Photographer

It’s such a treat for me when people who have hired me to do newborn photography for them return when their babies are sitting up and then again when they are turning one.

There are two reasons that I love this. First, because it means they loved the experience and they loved their photos. I am proud to work very hard to make the newborn photography session a fantastic experience for the parents. I work equally hard to make sure that the resulting photos are amazing. So, when someone comes back, it means I did my job!

But, it’s also fun for me because, since we’ve chatted away during the whole session, the chances are, I LIKE them! So, I’m happy to see them again. I feel like the best people hire me and I know I say it a lot but I really do. I love to give them a big squeeze when they walk back in the door again! Well, pre-covid, at least.

And, that’s part of this story! So, this guy was my first one year old session back after the quarantine was lifted in the Philadelphia area. Understandably, we were awkward. What do you do? We masked, of course. I worried that baby wouldn’t connect with me. Wouldn’t smile. Might be scared.

Hahahaha. Obviously, I didn’t know Gabe. He was smiling and adorably playing the whole time. This piece of fabric covering most of my face meant NOTHING!

It was a divergence from how I normally move around and reposition the baby, because I wanted to be careful and respectful. Mom did that work - I told her where to move him and we did our thing. See? She jumped right in. I’m not wrong about the best clients ever, right?

I had to drive in my car with this big balloon, btw. And I know that if you know me, you know I hate balloons. Well, it’s not so much that I hate them and more that I am TERRIFIED of their loud banging sound when they pop. And, this one was big so I just kept envisioning that big pop. But it never happened and I think I made her take the balloon with her. <3 What a sport! She even encouraged me to give Gabe a squeeze at the end. What a wonderful first session back.

Happy birthday, Big Guy. Let’s hope the world is normal again for your second birthday. And thanks to you, Mama, for letting me sneak in a squeeze. It was the best therapy ever. <#
