Philadelphia Maternity Photography | Photographing Mama
One of the best things about staying put/having roots somewhere is the joy of knowing people. Also, one of the joys of the work that I do comes from building relationships and sharing people’s joy. And, so it is with this family. I met this lovely person when she had her first baby. In a complex and happy aside, she saw maternity photos that I did for her friend, who is the mom in another family that I’ve had the pleasure of knowing and loving and photographing for many years. I hope you followed that but her friend is a longtime client and she saw her photos years ago and we’ve all three been working together ever since - through babies and new dogs and new pregnancies and new homes.
When she emailed to tell me she was adding a third to her bunch and to get this newest due date onto my calendar, she also wanted to schedule a maternity session, which she’d not done for her first two.
I met her at my most favorite spot to photograph new mamas, at my most favorite time of day to do it. I had just escaped being hit in the face with a throw from third base that went over the first baseman’s head. I protected my face with my apple watch which completely delaminated from its base - we discovered this after the session when I checked on my aching wrist. And that' wasn’t the most wild thing that happened that day.
We had an amazing session. I can’t wait to show you these photos. She slayed.
I love this light, this dress, this posing, her beautiful face, and the promise of spring, a new baby, and the excitement that all of those things bring.
I think these next two are my favorites. If you are doing a maternity session, P L E A S E bring a hat. I wish I knew why that particular accessory matters as much as it does, but boy do I love a pregnancy photo with a hat!
And I’m not gonna lie. This one right here? This is the standout favorite Instagram influencer shot right here. I cannot and will not reveal my secrets about this big smile.
Stay tuned! This mama already had her baby and his photos are stunning. Like, beyond. I can’t wait for you to see them. <3
