Donut Grow Up! | Media Cake Smash Photographer
2020 has been crazy for everyone: adults, kids, pets. The littlest among us have, in large part, been at home with only their parents, who are likely unmasked because, well, they’re in their own homes with their families. The littlest people aren’t really interacting with strange adults, not being held by teachers or their parents’ friends who have to get a squeeze in when they see an adorable baby.
You can imagine, then, it’s a little difficult for them not to have a little touch of stranger danger when they see someone unfamiliar, and, they can’t see the bottom half of their face to read their expression.
I try to go slow, let them get comfortable in my studio before we put them under the spotlight and that definitely seems to help.
This little baby was not really too upset by my masked presence, though. She was all smiles once we took off anything that was placed on her sweet little head.
Sadly for her, there was no way I was going to allow her not to take a few with the headpiece from this beautiful hanbok. She didn’t really hate having it on and boy is it gorgeous.
We did some portraits before moving on to the cake smash part of the session too. I think every one year old needs to have the tent in their portraits. Those rainbow felted balls are a favorite too!
Then, it was time to get down to business. Mama provided the adorable donut themed banner and cake topper. A minute for me to toot my own horn but I made the cute balloon arch with Mama’s specified color preferences. I know! I’m super un-crafty but here we are and it really wasn’t too hard.
I really enjoy the part of the process where we kick around ideas beforehand - and then bring them to life at the session!
I so loved doing this cake smash session and this adorable little family. If you’re awesome and you have a one year old and want to do a simply themed cake smash, I’m your lady! Get in touch here.
