Baby Charlotte | Newborn Photographer for Everyone
I have been a newborn photographer since 2010. In that time, I'm sure I've seen thousands of newborn photos - studying this craft, examining every photo of every "well known" newborn photographer from every angle, drooling over their work, for years. I've also followed hundreds of newborn photographers for years. In that time, I can count on one hand the number of babies with Down syndrome whose photos I've seen as newborns. Now, as newborn photographers, we photograph the babies normally in the first two weeks after the baby has been born - and sometimes babies who have Down syndrome/Trisomy 21 require a hospital stay or surgery soon after they are born. But not always! I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and I decided to set out to find a baby to photograph. Our family has close friends whose son was born 23 years ago with Down syndrome, so they were the first people to whom I thought to reach out. Their family definitely raised our family's awareness of Down syndrome. I soon found that they were connected to a large community of families who have a child with Down syndrome and they were FAST in helping to connect me with just the family I was looking for.And so, that is how I had the honor of meeting Miss Charlotte and her family. Charlotte was already seven weeks old when we connected so I was internally worrying a bit about if she'd be sleepy or poseable. Or if she had any posing restrictions. Well, she did not and she was a DREAM to photograph. So sweet and sleepy and easy! Her big brother walked right into my studio and stole my heart immediately too. Smart, funny, adorable - he was a proud big brother and he had me cracking up with his maturity and sweetness. I also fell in love with her parents in a second as well. Such a lovable family. And so. I know you are here for one thing only - the photos. I promise you, they do not disappoint! Also, remember to schedule your babies' newborn sessions. I am a newborn photographer for everyone. This photo actually made me gasp when it came up on my screen. I'd put it in the top five photos for me. I love everything about it - her eyes, lips, precious expression, itty bitty hands, everything. She wasn't sure she was going to cooperate with me for this pose. Like, really not sure. I almost abandoned it, but then she changed her mind and felt like it would work. That leg hanging over the edge makes me smile, but not as much as her little hand on her heel. You see that, right? Swoon! Just, yes. I love her serene expression and of course her little baby fingers. Oh man. That round shape. L O V E this! But this one. Oh, man. I love this one very very a lot. Buddha baby. Or something. But she was just so peaceful and serene - Buddha definitely comes to mind. I love her among these flowers and vintage vases so so much! I hope you loved these too! <3 Which one was your favorite?
